Jennifer Connelly
Jennifer Connelly was born December 12, 1970, in Woodstock, New York. As
the wife of Russell Crowe's schizophrenic mathematician, in the movie,
"A Beautiful Mind," she won her first Oscar. Jennifer started as a
model at the age of 10, appearing in many newspaper and magazine ads,
then later television commercials. She began acting at the age of 12,
making her onscreen debut as a member of an underground child in the
video for Duran Duran's "Union of the Snake." She appeared in one
episode of the series, "Tales of the Unexpected." She won her audition
for a part as daughter of Elizabeth McGovern in, "Once Upon A Time in
America," with Robert De Niro, James Woods and Joe Pesci. She then
appeared in two horror flicks, "Suspiria" and "Creepers", then the more
likeable, "Seven Minutes In Heaven," and after this the mainstream
fantasy film, "Labyrinth." In the film, she gets to wear a silver
ballgown and dance with Goblin King, played by David Bowie. Although
she has had a brief affair with popular music, her theatrical talents
have continued to dominate her career, with "Some Girls," "Hot Spot,"
the not-so successful "Rocketeer." After a stint in Stanford
University, this was followed by a series of unremarkable movies after
which came "Requiem," in which she received an Independent Spirit
nomination. Finally came, "A Beautiful Mind," in which she played Alicia
Nash, wife of Russell Crowe's, John Nash, the mathematician. Jennifer
remains at the start of her career and the next few years should achieve
more cinematic successes.
